Katsudonya Zuicho – Best Katsudon near Shibuya
They only serve one dish with 8 seats in their restaurant. You know it’s bound to be good if they’ve been perfecting that one dish day in and day out. It is truly a hidden gem filled with both locals and growing with tourists every day. It’s a stone’s throw away from Shibuya crossing (10 mins walk). It has no fancy billboards or big signs and its easy to miss tucked away in a small alleyway. They are almost always full with a snaking queue but fortunately the queue moves fast. They have an english menu of 1 item which is the Katsudon for 1500Yen.

Food we Ordered
Katsudon (1500Yen) + Extra Egg (100Yen)
The Katsudon is an absolute delight, featuring thick and crispy pork atop a bed of luscious velvety egg, complemented by a tantalizing secret sauce, all served on a bed of perfectly cooked Japanese rice. The sauce is the die for, trust me. It’s worth the wait.
Is Katusonya Zuicho Worth it?
One point to note is the Katsudon comes without onions unlike everywhere else in Japan where I’ve eaten. They have 3 sizes of rice portions to choose from and each set comes with green tea and a serving of soup. There’s something about the sauce used which adds a special flavor to the crispy pork cutlet which leaves you craving for more. So please try it if you’re around the area.
