Wey Wey Live Seafood Menu
Food we Ordered
Steamed Grouper Nonya Style – 378k Rp
Steamed grouper in nonya sauce, we selected this grouper from the live seafood section. It came in at about 1kg in weight. The flesh was super bouncy and flaky. Probably due to the freshness of the fish. The nonya sauce paired beautifully with the delicate white flesh and there were no traces of any fishiness whatsoever.
Udang Nestum – 80k Rp
Udang Nestum, also known as cereal prawns, remains an irresistible favorite that I consistently order at Chinese restaurants. The dish has slight sweetness and gentle spiciness which complements the fresh prawns. The textures and taste make it an absolute must-order.
Sotong Goreng – 60k Rp
The sotong goreng, impressed with its perfectly cooked texture – not overly chewy yet very crispy. A dollop of mayonnaise would have taken this dish to even greater heights, enhancing its flavors and adding a creamy touch to satisfying crunch.
Tauge Ikan Asin – 33k Rp
Tauge with ikan asin, a beansprout dish infused with salted fish. It was a basic dish with garlic, nothing special but enjoyable.
Fried Baby Squid – 55k Rp
The fried baby squid offered a satisfying crunch, highlighting its freshness with simple seasoning. Although the dish was tasty, I personally felt it was slightly overfried.
Hotplate Tahu – 55k Rp
Served on a piping hotplate, adds an exciting element. Digging into the bubbling layer of egg and flavorful sauce to drizzle over rice is a classic ritual that makes this dish an absolute must order at any chinese food restaurant.
Mongolian Chicken – 60k Rp
Mongolian Chicken was both sweet and savoury. Expertly coating each piece of chicken in a creamy delicious sauce. The blend of flavors keeps your taste buds guessing, making it an exciting choice for those who crave something different compared to the usual chicken dishes. I would order this again.
Chapchye – 36k Rp
Chapchye, a vegetable stir-fry ensemble featuring mushrooms, carrots, cauliflowers, and more, presented a mixture of flavors and textures. While the sauce leaned slightly towards the salty side, it went together very well with the steamed rice.
Otah Otah– 40k Rp
